ROD STUDD started his journalistic career at the tender age of 21 as a trainee with Leeds based radio station Radio Aire.
Rod commentated on Leeds United's Championship winning season of 1991-92 and was part of the commentary team on the station's popular rugby league show.
With his family home in Cheshire, he spent many a happy afternoon on the terraces at Naughton Park as Widnes ruled the roost in the day's of Kurt Sorensen, Phil McKensie, Jonathan Davies and the Hulme brothers.
Among the highlights of his time at Aire was one afternoon at Headingley as Martin Offiah ran riot in a 38-0 thrashing of Leeds. Happy Days!
Rod went freelance in 1999 and quickly became part of the Sky Sports rugby league team. He can regularly be heard on Boots N All or on the live match broadcasts. He did his first match commentary for Sky at this year's Magic Weekend on the game between Castleford and Hull.
He's also a regularly on Sky Sports News.
Rod presented Real Radio's rugby league phone for two years and wrote for The Sportsman newspaper before joining the Racing Post as their rugby league tipster in 2007.
