Donald to have shoulder op

Leeds Rhinos winger Scott Donald will miss the Gillette World Club Challenge following the news that he will undergo shoulder reconstruction surgery on Monday.

Scans have revealed that the try-scoring winger suffered a dislocation in last Friday's win over Salford City Reds. Donald has seen specialists this week and an examination of the scans revealed that surgery was necessary.

The club say Donlad will have an arthroscopic procedure at the beginning of next week after which he will begin his rehabilitation.

Commenting on the announcement Leeds Rugby's Head of Physiotherapy Meirion Jones said, "Scott has undergone a number of scans this week and met with specialists.

"Unfortunately for him, the result of those meetings is that surgery is the best course of action to get Scott back fit to play. The surgeon has informed us that he is likely to be out for up to twelve weeks however we will assess Scott along the way to make sure he is progressing as expected."
