Bosc given captaincy role

France international Thomas Bosc has been appointed Catalans Dragons' new team captain for the 2010 season.

The 26-year-old half-back, one of seven survivors from the club's inaugural Super League campaign in 2006, takes over from Australian Greg Bird, who left the club at the end of last season to join the Gold Coast Titans.

"Thomas has been at the club since the beginning and has improved dramatically since his debut in Super League," said coach Kevin Walters. "He is a key player for the Catalans and the national team and I feel he is ready to take on this role."

Bosc got the job ahead of fellow international Jerome Guisset, who retains his role of club captain.

Walters added: "Jerome Guisset retains his role as club captain but his job on the field requires him to be on and off during the games and he couldn't be the team captain in these conditions."
