Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have confirmed that new recruit Terry Newton did not suffer a serious injury in Saturday's season opening victory at Harlequins.
It was thought that the former international hooker had sustained a serious tear to his bicep as the Wildcats triumphed 18-10 at the Twickenham Stoop.
But the club say a scan earlier today has revealed that the inury is only superficial and the former Leeds, Wigan and Bradford rake is unlikely to miss any games.
John Kear, the Wildcats Head Coach, said: "The scan has shown that Terry's injury is not serious.
"He has a good chance of being fit in time to play Catalans Dragons in our opening Engage Super League XV home game at the Hearwell Stadium on Sunday.
"And he will certainly be fit in time to play against Leeds Rhinos the following Sunday."
