BEVAN French blitzed Toulouse to win player of the match for Wigan – and then said he had “a bit to go” before he is fully fit.

French was seemed at his elusive best in a 48-18 win at Brick Community Stadium on Saturday, scoring a dazzling solo try and a devastating attacking display.

But he has missed 15 games and played another three off the bench this season because of hamstring troubles.

“I don’t really thinking about how fit I am or any previous injuries,” French, 30, told Sky Sports. “I just try to go in with a clear mind so I still think I’ve got a bit to go, obviously.

“I’ve only been back a few weeks, playing a full game. I think there’s six or seven rounds to go. Let’s just get through that, playing the full 80 minutes each week.

“Hopefully I’ll hit my peek before the back end of the season.”

Wigan’s next opponents are Bradford away on Saturday night; they are second on the table, two competition points behind Leeds.
